Brio Technology supports local company
through Phase 1 of NPI
October 2005
Brio
Technology Ltd.
provided Product Engineering and Design For Manufacture
(DFM) services to a local British Columbia, Vancouver
Island-based Company. Brio delivered fully working
prototype units
with the completion of Phase 1 of the project in early
October 2005 that operated on an accelerated time
schedule. With the support of Canada Brio’s parent
company’s Engineering & Design Teams and the tight
communications link provided by Brio’s Burnaby-based
Technical Team, the client was able to successfully launch
their new product at
two
large international trade events in Thailand and in Hong
Kong. The forecasted production builds of this product
is up
to
1
million
units
annually, which will be built in the Beijing plant of Brio
Technology Ltd. Brio Technology will commence
Phase
2 which will involve software and hardware integration,
plastics enclosure design,
production tooling, BOM procurement
and
PCBA manufacture,
which will be scheduled to completion by the 1st
quarter of year 2006.
“One
of the major aspects of winning such business is that Brio
can offer a wide range of services required by North
American ODM/OEM’s. For example low cost design services,
small prototype builds of 5 pcs to 100 pcs, and enough
capacity for manufacturing when the product matures to a
production level. Brio has a small designated unit within
the manufacturing facility purely for small pre-production
runs, this is usually unheard off in low cost Asian
manufacturing,”
said Canada Brio General Manager – Jack Tan.
